Is Liberal handgun ban a ploy to exploit NRA's CPC support?

We know that as a strategy to reduce gun crime on our city streets, the proposal by the Liberals to ban handguns won't work. As many have said, this is a case of politics over policy.

It may be even more than what I was originally thinking. With all the noise being made to try to connect the NRA to the Conservatives, I wonder if this policy, which the NRA of course completely opposes, isn't also a political ploy to keep the alleged NRA-CPC connection front and centre?

Certainly some key Liberals aren't dropping the issue.

Politics over policy. That should have been the LPC slogan for this election.
