Donate here to fight for Free speech on the Internet!

As promised, I have posted a Paypal link for those to donate to help the defendants in the Crookes v. OpenPolitics case. That case goes to trial this October, and is incredibly important to us all, as it deals with the liability of publishers, even when absent, for the posts and comment of others on a wiki.

Kate of Small Dead Animals is facing similar, if not the same, issues, as a defendant in the Warren lawsuit. Support Kate if you like, but the OpenPolitics case is likely to hit trial first.

You can also donate to my court case (Crookes V. Holloway) through the Cambridge Green Party Association by cheque.

Kate at SDA has just noticed the Crookes lawsuits.

More to come.

Sorry dude but my $1,000 donation is going to Kate. Maybe some of your friends on the left-hand side of the blogosphere will be able to help you out.

Hellooooo... Richard.

Why am I not surprised to see you treat our essential freedoms as a partisan issue.

Richard said...

Not partisan at all. My donation cash is already committed. I just thought that maybe you'd have a better chance at generating some revenue from within your social circle.

You can post the following or not. It's your site.

I do have $750.00 that could go toward your defense fund but it's currently tied-up in the "who is "CC" reward fund". I need a name though. The information must be verifiable. You'll get $750.00 in either a western union or direct bank transfer within 2 days of providing me with what I'm after. The transaction will be kept confidential.

I doubt CC's given you anything this far so you may as well get something out of him...

If you'd like to discuss it further, we can discuss it via e-mail. I'm at richard@no-libs.com

Which line number would Kate report that $1000 in on her 2008 tax return.

Just curious.

Richard,

You are a real knee-slapper! Geez, I wouldn't give CC up for a measly $750!

Sassy,

That is perhaps an issue, but lets be kind...

None. Small gifts aren't taxable.

You are a real knee-slapper! Geez, I wouldn't give CC up for a measly $750!

Then you must not need the money. No skin off my knee, I offered... Maybe McClelland's right and you really are in this position because of your own poor judgment. Has CC taken the same position I wonder?

Mark Francis said...

McClelland says I'm not his intended target of that remark.

Poor judgment is going after Warman claiming he did a post that he clearly didn't do. And, when confronted everyone with libel notices saying so, continuing to taunt him.

Bad judgment. I see punitive damages in some people's future.

Did you know that it is still a criminal offense in Canada to maliciously libel someone?

I don't like it, but the SCC ruled it in ten years ago.

"Small gifts aren't taxable."

Then be more generous.... ;)

What has CC donated to your defense fund Mark?

Oh well... Who am I to know... Maybe CC's donated a thousand dollars and championed your cause on his blog on a regular basis. Oh wait... Doing a search of CC's blog for "Mark Francis" turns up nothing. Nothing at all. A search for "Section 15" pulls up a post where he linked to you back in 2006, and some others from 2005...

Strange that the friend you're protecting has been so quite on your plight...

Richard, you are still free enough to donate your money wherever you want, but if Mark loses his suit, it creates a precedent and becomes case law. Judges always render verdicts using established precedent and case law. Personally, I'd rather Mark didn't lose his case. I can't speak for you but my Canada includes those who disagree with me.

I'm conservative, but I'm donating what little I can spare. It's not much I'm afraid. :( But my pocketbook is still aching after paying taxes this year. Good luck.

See, Richard? It's all a partisan issue for you.

I don't know if CC has donated. I'm not the one receiving the donations. I'm trying to raise funds for OpenPolitics.ca, which is not my case.

CC can do as he/she likes.
