Don't take the bribe!
Jack is making conciliatory noises towards Harper.
Harper averted a summer election by placating Ignatieff with a special EI committee. As we all know, Harper had the committee stonewalled, and then had his government produce partisan numbers to discredit the otherwise credible Liberal proposal.
Why, Jack, would you ever think that Harper wouldn't toy with you on this all the way to budget time, introduce a good news (read: filled with lies) budget and then call an election on his terms.
Is four years of a Conservative majority really worth it?
Think about it. You already know that you'll get more done with a Liberal minority. You should help pursue one.

"You'll get more done with a Liberal minority". Get what done? Not a single Liberal or Liberal MP has come out and said what they would have done differently if they had been in power. So are you talking through your hat or is there actually a plan that Liberals are keeping to themselves only to be released should they get into power?
I'm not a liberal supporter.
I have to completely disagree with you. The Liberal EI proposal, the Liberals pushed for stimulus funding the Conservatives denied to be necessary, reinstating the Court Challenges program reinstatement... There's lots more, but must I do your research for you? I don't like Iggy. I think he's Harper-lite, but Harper is far worse and has to go.
I won't be voting Liberal.
Mark, you must be NDP, because you know the faults of Harper too well.
Actually, I'm an independent green. I used to sit on the Green Party of Ontario council as the elected member for Toronto.
I've never voted NDP.
My riding is 'safe' Liberal, so my vote really doesn't matter, except for political funding purposes. The NDP have been gaining ground here though.
Mark, it is a good political position for Layton and the NDP to be in. The supposed liberal EI proposal is similar to the NDP, except that the libs were the ones that screwed up EI in the first place and created this mess.
Let's see what Harper has to offer. Beyond that, Jack is asking for more than tinkering around the edges.
It's true - who knows what the libs would do - and to me, no matter what they promises, they have real problems with credibility - sure they will run on progressive stuff - which they just never get around to implementing.
Still waiting for that national childcare problem they promised from redbook 1 circa 1993
@jan: I know it must seem like a cruel broken promise on the Libs' part, but to their credit, they were finally close to making it a reality (just ask Ken Dryden) when Layton and Harper pulled the plug on Martin's minority government. The blame shouldn't be put entirely on the Liberals' shoulders, is all I'm saying.
The party is power is whom I am always most to tend to hold to account. Harper has failed dismally.
Jack will get burned, and Harper will get to call an election on his terms.
You're an independent green? You're showing up on the Liblogs aggregate (you know.. the home of Liberal bloggers) still. ;)
That's probably why Prairie Kid came here and commented; he's been trying to troll and obfuscate at Liberal blogs all day.
Thanks for the reminder. I just submitted a request to be removed from Liblogs. I'll apply to whatever non-partisan list is out there, and obviously stay on progblogs.
There's the Non-Partisan Canadians aggregate run by James Bow.
