A proposal for an independent body to oversee political debates instead of an unaccountable consortium? Heavens!
I agree with this, except for the part excluding the Bloc from English debates. Anglophones in Quebec are more comfortable in English, and the rest of Canada is not sufficiently bilingual. We need to know what the Bloc has to say.

Not to mention that there are French-speaking people who live outside of Quebec.
I don't agree with the polling part which is dumb. Polls can be rigged.
If they have seats in the House of Commons they should be able to be of the main debate - period.
It's called democracy and gerrymandering the debates. Soon we will be a republic like the US where in the end there is little political differences between republicans and democrats.
The present consortium is out-moded and reform is necessary. But keeping the BQ out of the english debate is completely stupid and probably wouldn't stand up to a Charter challenge. It amounts to shutting up Quebec's primary political voice to the RoC on its most-watched stage. Way to insult Quebecois(e) there!
