I think the point about others like immigrants must be emphasized. It's not Ignatieff that Harper and his friends are arttacking; it's the hard working new Canadians that they're attacking. After all, immigrants must be "just visiting."
Harper wants this election more than anything else, cause no matter what he wins.
1) he drains the resources of the opposition.
2) if he wins a majority he wins.
3) if he wins a minority he wins.
4) if he loses he still wins, cause he can afford to pull the plug as soon as he manufactures an outrage.
Iggy does not inspire, and Harper has shit loads of cash to throw at the problem.
